Victoria 2 is a global strategy game developed by the Swedish studio Paradox Interactive on the Europa Universalis III engine. Announced on August 19, 2009. The release is scheduled for June 2010. The game is a sequel to Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, released in 2003.
The decision to create Victoria 2 was influenced by voting on the Paradox Interactive forums, as well as discussions within the company. Paradox Interactive´s CEO, Fredrik Wester, has publicly stated his belief that the game will not generate income, and other members of the company believed otherwise. In this regard, Wester promised that if the game really makes a profit, he will shave his head and post pictures on the forum. This belief is due to the low sales of the first game in the series.
